Here at SBG Bozeman we are very sorry to hear that Kron Gracie is closing his academy here in our town. We are huge fans of Kron, his wins by submission at the ADCC 2013 in China in which he took gold displayed Jiu Jitsu at the very highest levels. He has continued on his mission to represent Jiu Jitsu in the UFC too. Some people may be surprised that a “competitor” is expressing sorrow at the closure of a ‘rival’. The reality is that we are all part of a Jiu Jitsu family and ecosystem that is still incredibly small in the grand scale of martial arts, let alone the general fitness industry from which many of us have sought solace. Many of us have attended seminars by his father Rickson Gracie, of which SBG has a proud history and lineage back to the great man himself. Whilst we celebrate the promotion of Jiu Jitsu through Joe Rogan, and countless celebrities such as Keanu Reeves, Jonah Hill, etc, or business people like Mark Zuckerberg, Jiu Jitsu has barely entered the mainstream conciousness, even though self defence of ourselves and our families is so important. When a Jiu Jitsu academy closes, our overall mission is slowed. We work better as a pack to spread the word of Jiu Jitsu. Sadly most people have never even stepped on a Jiu Jitsu mat. They have yet to experience the incredible health benefits, the sense of community and friendships, and the improvements to self confidence and strategic thinking that cannot be obtained in the typical commercial gym. Recap Of The SBG Montana Summit
SBG Montana recently held its inaugural Montana Summit in Kalispell from June 14th to 16th, drawing over 70 members from its six locations across the state. The event was a resounding success, featuring intensive Jiu Jitsu instruction led by black belt gym owners from Missoula, Whitefish, Bigfork, Bozeman, and Kalispell.
